Scott Cummins


Scott joined the Aces staff in April, 2011 after an outstanding five years as the Head Coach of the Greenwood Tiger Sharks. He is very excited about applying his swimming and dryland training knowledge to the athletes at Aces Swim Club. While at Greenwood Scott increased the team numbers five fold, coached a National Age Group record holder, individual Junior National Champions, multiple Junior National top 8 performances, short course Junior National high point winner, National Youth Team member 2009-2010 & 2010-2011, Junior Pan Pacs team qualifier, multiple state high school champions and record holders, top college recruit ranking class of 2011. National Youth Team coaching staff 2009-2010 & 2010-2011.

Scott comes from a swimming family who all swam for the Lakeside Seahawks in Louisville, KY. Scott joined the swim team at age five and swam year round throughout grade school, high school, college, and beyond. He was a Senior National Qualifier in five individual events. In 1993 he was named Kentucky High School Male Swimmer of the year after winning four Kentucky High School Individual State Titles over two years.

Scott swam for Western Kentucky University for four years where he was named Captain in 96-97 and most valuable swimmer for three years. WKU had a undefeated season in 1997 and had an overall record of 52 wins and only 3 losses during Scott's tenure. He set six different individual school swimming records and two school relay records. He was named Eastern Intercollegiate Swimmer of the year in 1995. Scott was an alternate on the US National Open Water Team in 1996.

After graduating from WKU in 1998 Scott was named Head Coach of the Men & Women Swimming Team at Cumberland College (now named University of the Cumberlands). He coached the Men's Team to a 10 and 1 record losing only to an undefeated WKU Team. The Women's Team was 6 & 5, their first ever wining season. The Men's Team was 4th overall at NAIA Nationals, the Women placed 9th. The Men had five NAIA All-Americans, two National Titles, one second, and two third place finishes. The Men placed first at the Appalachian Swim Conference and the Women placed second.

Scott then moved on to Division One NCAA Butler University as the Head Coach of Men and Women Swimming. During the next three years at Butler the Women's Team had their best ever finish (4th place) at the MCC Championships. Butler was the only team without divers. The Women set seven new individual school records and six new relay records. The Men set nine new individual school records and eight new relay records. The Men scored the most points ever for Butler. Following the third season Butler dropped scholarships and then the Men's Swimming Team.

Next Scott moved to Houston, TX to become Assistant Head Coach at Blue Tide Aquatics. There he coached National Age Group record holders, Senior National Qualifiers, Junior National Qualifiers, Sectional Qualifiers, State Record holders, and a NCAA National Champion.

Scott loves water sports of all kinds. He has done many open water swims including a top 25 overall finish and second in age group at 2008 Waikiki Rough Water Swim. He won all three years of the Wyoming Outback Challenge 50 mile kayak race. Also placing 1st in the tandem division at the Colorado 100 canoe and kayak race in Texas.
