Sarah Parsons
Sarah started swimming for her neighborhood swim team, Homestead, when she was four years old. Shortly after she began to swim for ACES (at age 5) and swam through college at Colorado State University. While swimming for ACES, she was a part of numerous All-Star teams and the National Team as well as being state champion. Sarah was given the chance to swim all throughout the country in places like Alaska, California, Washington, Texas, Nebraska, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, New Mexico, and Florida. As a ten year old, she placed 3rd in the country in the Walter Schuler stroke competition and was state champion in the 100 Breaststroke and 100 Individual Medley. Sarah has a state record in the 800 Free Relay for the 17-18 year old age group, numerous national top 16 relay rankings, and many top 10 ACES times.
Sarah also swam for Cherry Creek High School, where she was on the varsity team all four years. At Cherry Creek, Sarah qualified for state in all four years, and placed at state all four years. Sarah was a part of the Cherry Creek team that was recognized nationally on the Team Cheerios box and was voted the Most Valuable Junior. She earned several All-American consideration times during her time at Creek. Sarah’s senior year she was captain of the varsity team and was awarded the Mark Sessoms her senior year for Homestead in recognition for her commitment, dedication, and spirit to her neighborhood.
Sarah attended Colorado State University where she was awarded a scholarship to swim Division I as a distance swimmer. As a swimmer for the RAMS, Sarah was recognizes as Most Inspiration and Most Improved athlete of the week. She was also a member of the CSU travel and conference squad. Sarah placed top 16 in the Mountain West Conference for CSU in her events, the 1650 freestyle, the 500 freestyle, and the 400 IM. In her final year swimming for the RAMS, she was able to achieve lifetime best in both the 500 Freestyle (5:02) and in the 1650 freestyle (17:24). Sarah was also recognized as a member of the Mountain West Conference All-Academic team as a scholar athlete. Her hard work in and out of the pool helped her to be accepted at the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine class of 2010. Sarah is currently attending CU working toward her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS).
During college Sarah coached for her neighborhood swim team, the Homestead Hurricanes. There she helped the Hurricanes win 5 consecutive Rocky Mountain League Championships.
Sarah believes in building a foundation of good technique and using correct body position to dictate how the arms and legs can help generate the most power. Swimming effectively and efficiently are things Sarah emphasizes in practice and is incorporated into the drills she does. Sarah believes that hard work, dedication, and attitude are the key factors in helping swimmers achieve their goals.
