Karen Byorick
Karen has been with the ACES Swim Club since 2002 as a coach of the Jokers group. Over the years, she has instilled her knowledge of swimming to children in her group. When swimmers leave the Jokers group, Karen believes they should have a strong foundation and good technique in all four strokes.
Karen began her swimming career at the age of 5 in her home town of West Chester, PA (how about that, a coach who does not hail from Colorado!). As a member of the Malvern Swim Association from 5-18 years of age, Karen competed in local and state meets, as well as meets at the Junior and Senior national level. After years of hard work in the pool and at school, Karen earned a scholarship to the University of Notre Dame. While at Notre Dame, Karen was a four year letter winner, earned the Knute Rockne scholar athlete award, and was part of the 1997 Big East Championship Team. Go Irish! It was at Notre Dame that she met her husband Tom.
After finishing college with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Computer Applications, Karen moved to Colorado to attend the University of Denver School Psychology Program. Upon graduating from DU in 2001, Karen earned her Education Specialist degree and currently works for Littleton Public Schools.
When Karen is not in the pool or working with students at school, she enjoys spending time with her two dogs Raleigh and Roxi, exercising and cooking.
